Clifton R. Wharton, Jr., graduates from the Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Dr. Wharton, known as the “quiet pioneer,” goes on to have a distinguished career in higher education, business, foreign economic development, and philanthropy. He becomes president of Michigan State University, the First African American CEO of a Fortune 500 company (TIAA-CREF), and serves six Presidents in foreign policy advisory posts.
