1970 September: The first full-time female undergraduates – transfer students and freshmen who can commute from home – arrive on campus. The freshmen class includes three African American females, Shirley Dilsworth, Karen Freeman, and Gail Williams. Transfer students include Lynn Parker and Barbara Wyche.
