1973 Joseph S. “Jakie” Hall is appointed Dean of Students. He serves in this capacity from 1973 to 1978. His other appointments include Dean of Academic Services, 1978-1982; Senior Assistant to the President, 1982-1986; Vice President for Institutional Relations,1986 until his retirement in 1991.
In 1978, Dr. Knight becomes the first tenured Black professor in Arts and Sciences.
